The top two requests from South Hayward youth for the new Center are more recreational opportunities, like art and sports, and more natural outdoor spaces. To meet this vision, the Stack Center will include the following features: 

• An arts and makers space
• A rotating gallery in the main lobby, curated by the Hayward Arts Council, that can open into the arts and makers space and open out onto the program plaza
• Two outdoor performance spaces - an amphitheater with a movie screen and a stage with riser seating
• The Hayward Area Park and Recreation District will continue to operate the adjacent 12,000 square foot gymnasium, which hosts daily recreation sports programming for youth and adults​​​

In addition to these amenities, the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District is investing millions of dollars into the adjoining ​9.6 acre Tennyson Park. The park improvements include:

• Mia's Dream Come True Playground, a recently completed, custom-built accessible park for children of all abilities
• A recently completed fitness court
• Recently installed self-cleaning restrooms
• Planned upgraded sport fields and seating areas 
• A planned pump track and renovated skate park
• A planned net climber
